Band High-to-Low Woodchop
Also called: high-to-low cable chop, woodchopper
Coaching cues
- Anchor the band above shoulder height
- Feet wider than hips, knees soft
- Pull down and across toward the opposite knee
- Pivot the back foot and turn the hips through
- Control the return — don't get yanked back
Common mistakes
- All arms, no hip or trunk rotation
- Rounding the back at the bottom of the chop
- Feet stuck flat so the knees twist
- Letting the band snap back between reps
Take care with: lower back. Members who list these injuries never see this exercise in a program.
Easier: Half-Kneeling Band Chop
Harder: Landmine Rotation
