Barbell Front Squat
Also called: front squat, clean-grip front squat
Coaching cues
- Elbows high — upper arms parallel to the floor
- Bar rests on your shoulders, not in your hands
- Stay tall, chest up the whole descent
- Lead out of the bottom with your elbows
Common mistakes
- Elbows dropping and the bar rolling forward
- Upper back rounding at the bottom
- Rising onto the toes
- Death-gripping the bar with bent wrists instead of letting it rest on the shoulders
Take care with: knee, wrist. Members who list these injuries never see this exercise in a program.
